About Us

A beer-loaded Sunday afternoon, an old Ford Maverick, and a slightly dangerous sentence:

“I’ve got an idea…”

Back in 2007, in a suburban Melbourne garage, that idea was born out of pure frustration. Like many who love getting out and exploring this vast country, we were living out of our vehicle — and constantly digging through the back trying to find gear buried somewhere behind drawers, spare parts, and everything else you pack “just in case.”

There had to be a better way.

Tired of climbing through the rear door, working around drawer systems, and generally making a mess just to grab something simple, we set out to fix the problem ourselves. No grand plan, no big business vision — just a need to make life easier on the road.

That first rough prototype proved one thing pretty quickly…
we were onto something.

What followed was years of refining, testing, and improving the design — turning a backyard idea into a properly engineered modular solution. (And yes, a few more beers along the way… purely for research purposes, of course.)

Today, Emuwing is an Australian family-owned and operated business based in Ballarat, Victoria. We design and manufacture a growing range of vehicle-specific Emuwings, now covering 35+ models across platforms like LandCruiser, Patrol, Jeep, and more.

Our products are proudly Australian made and built with a focus on durability, and real-world usability — not one-size-fits-all shortcuts. Every kit is designed to properly suit the vehicle it’s made for, using a proven development system we continue to refine with every new release.

What started in a garage is now used by customers all over Australia and exported worldwide — helping thousands of people access their gear faster, easier, and without the usual frustration.

But at its core, not much has changed.

We’re still solving the same problem we set out to fix all those years ago:

Make access easier. Make travel better.

Whether you’re heading off for a weekend away or doing the big lap, Emuwing is built to make your setup more practical, more accessible, and a whole lot more enjoyable.

Thanks for being part of the journey — and yes… that original Maverick idea might’ve gotten slightly out of hand.
